Meramec State Park 4 January 2009

January 5, 2009

Hiked a short 3 miles today at Meramec State Park in Sullivan, Missouri. It was cold but nice–crystal clear springs, and three caves (two of which are pictured here). The one with the gate’s a little sinister looking, but the gates are designed to protect rare Missouri bats and stop damage to cave formations. Caving’s something I’ll never get into, but they’re undeniably cool. Also included is a fern–a rare shot of green at the depths of winter.

Wonder what it says about me that my favorite pick of Obama’s cabinet, Bill Richardson, has just been outed as yet another Dem crook? Oh well, just over 2 weeks until the coronation, which I have no intention of watching….
